China EV battery maker BTR to build cathode plant in Morocco


The Moroccan authorities gave the inexperienced mild on Friday for Chinese electrical battery maker BTR New Material Group to build a manufacturing unit close to Tangier to produce key part cathode.
The plant, to be constructed at a value of three billion dirhams ($300 million), can have a manufacturing capability of fifty,000 tonnes, Morocco‘s funding ministry mentioned.
The first output of 25,000 tonnes is predicted in September 2026, the ministry mentioned in an announcement following the signing of the funding take care of BTR.
Moroccan officers have usually pitched the north African nation as location for EV battery factories due to its current auto trade and renewable vitality sectors, and the presence of uncooked supplies together with cobalt and phosphates.
Stellantis-owned Citroen has a plant in Kenitra in northwest Morocco with capability to produce 50,000 supermini electrical vehicles, whereas Renault and Stellantis-owned Peugeot make combustion-engine vehicles in Morocco, which can be a base for a cluster of automotive components makers.
