In a major development, Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) officer Sameer Wankhede has been removed from the case of Aryan Khan, son of Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan, sources cited by Zee News have said.

Wankhede was investigating the Aryan Khan Drugs Case, which will now be handed over to Sanjay Singh. He has also been removed from the case of Sameer Khan, son-in-law of minister Nawab Malik in the Maharashtra government.

However, Wankhede will continue to be the zonal director of Mumbai NCB. He is now separated from the whole matter.

Amidst the news of Sameer Wankhede’s removal from the case of Sameer Khan and Aryan Khan, Maharashtra Minister Nawab Malik tweeted, “Sameer Wankhede removed from 5 cases including the Aryan Khan case. There are 26 cases in all that need to be probed. This is just the beginning… a lot more has to be done to clean this system and we will do it.”

Significantly, the reason for Sameer Wankhede was removed from the case of Aryan Khan and Nawab Malik’s son-in-law Sameer Khan is yet to come to the fore. Amidst the constant allegations, did Wankhede recuse himself from these cases or was it done under pressure from the Maharashtra government?
