Why Manipur violence is still not resolved? Standoff between female mob and army; know what happened

While over 100 individuals have been reported lifeless in Manipur owing to the violence within the state as a result of conflict of the communities, the disturbances within the state have still not stopped, with a mob going through off with the Indian Army just lately.

A gaggle of Meitei militants confronted off with the Indian Army with a mob of over 1200, led by ladies, which compelled the military officers to launch 12 militants from their custody. The Army mentioned that it was the “mature decision”, and left with the seized weapons and ammunition.

The Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL), a Meitei militant group, was concerned in various assaults, together with the ambush of a 6 Dogra unit in 2015, the Army mentioned. The standoff in Manipur befell within the Itham village of Imphal East and ended with 12 Meitei militants being launched.

The stand-off in Itham went on all through Saturday, and ended after a “mature decision by the operational commander keeping in view the sensitivity of the use of kinetic force against a large irate mob led by women and likely casualties due to such action”, they added.

Among these holed up within the village was self-styled Lt Col Moirangthem Tamba alias Uttam, a wished terrorist who could have been the mastermind of the Dogra ambush tragedy, officers mentioned, as per PTI reviews.

Why is Manipur violence still not resolved?

The violence in Manipur was sparked as a result of the Meitei neighborhood within the state wished a Schedule Tribes standing, which is granted to the Kuki tribe and grants them entry to authorities jobs, faculties, and different facilities beneath reservation.

The prime motive why the violence and the clashes haven’t stopped is that there was no determination relating to granting ST standing to the Meitei tribe, and the violence has now taken a communal flip in Manipur.

Clashes first broke out on May 3 after a ‘Tribal Solidarity March’ was organized within the hill districts to protest in opposition to the Meitei neighborhood’s demand for Scheduled Tribe (ST) standing. It have to be famous that Meiteis account for majority of the inhabitants in Manipur.
