A two-month-old girl and a person have been killed in their sleep whereas 14 labourers have been injured when the floor of the basement of an under-construction building collapsed, police stated on Friday.
The incident occurred close to Kalindi Park round Thursday midnight, a police official stated.
“Some labourers who worked at the site used to live in shanties in the basement. As the floor collapsed, the labourers were buried under the rubble in their sleep,” Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Sayed Ali Abbas stated.
Immediately after the incident, a group of native police officers rushed to the spot and started on the lookout for survivors with the assistance of locals.
