Popular edtech entrepreneur and web character Alakh Pandey’s Physics Wallah is making a massive Rs 500 crore bet to make its mark in a brand new geography. PW is buying a 50 % stake in Kerala-based firm Xylem Learning. The huge transfer is a part of Pandey’s plan to develop PW within the southern states.
PW will purchase 50 % of Xylem for Rs 500 crore in phases over three years. The partnership contains strategic fairness and money investments by PW in Xylem. It will allow a joint push to scale operations and PW presence in south India.
“In three years, we will invest Rs 500 crore to propagate the brave and unique ‘XYLEM model of Hybrid Learning’ to other adjoining sister states – it is a special result-oriented plan of learning which has specially impressed me,” Alakh Pandey stated on the transfer.
Xylem Learning was based by Dr Ananthu S and is seeking to develop its success in Kerala to different southern states together with Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. The edtech agency offers free YouTube lessons to over 30 lakh college students. It has 30 YouTube channels.
The firm claims to have over 1 lakh paid college students in its on-line section whereas 30,000 college students use it in offline or hybrid mode. It operated 10 tuition centres. Xylem additionally has a school-integrated program working in seven colleges.
Alakh Pandey has stated that PW eyes extra mergers and acquisitions within the South.
