Recently in a memorandum to Prime Minister, the Tamil Nadu chief minister MK Stalin raised the issue of repeal of three farm laws.
Maharashtra is reportedly in the process of amending its law to neutralise the ill effects of the central legislation on farmers.
West Bengal Chief Minister has been asking for the protesting farmers’ demands to be met.
“Governments led by other parties in a few other states have also stood with the farmers’ movement and joined their calls for countrywide action. Even BJP’s own leaders have been asking the central government to resolve the farmers’ issues. This is what the government ought to be prioritising, not a slander and defamation campaign,” stated the morcha.
It also stated that feeling the BJP government is not serious to provide remunerative prices of crops, farmers across the country have started demanding that minimum support price (MSP) should be made into a legal guarantee for all.
