Fashion Week came to a rainy close Wednesday night at Manhatta, where Vanity Fair and Saks Fifth Avenue teamed up for the magazine’s highly fashionable Best-Dressed party. The restaurant, set 60 stories above lower Manhattan, was filled with designers (Prabal Gurung, Tommy Hilfiger), models (Helena Christensen, Jasmine Sanders), musicians (Ty Dolla $ign, Lauren Jauregui), and all-star athletes (Caitlyn Jenner, Maria Sharapova). Stars posed on a burgundy velvet couch for a mob of photographers upstairs while others spent the night hobnobbing and sipping cocktails.
“I feel very short here,” comedian Michelle Wolf told Vanity Fair. “I have a bow on my outfit, I could barely tie that. I am not designed to be here at all. And I’m trying not to get my picture with anyone other than Jeff [Ross] because anyone else here I’m going to look terrible next to.”
She was kidding about her fellow comedian, of course, though it was a night full of models and intense glamour. Model Sara Sampaio looked like a flawless wedding-cake topper in a bedazzled feather minidress and disco ball handbag, while Jauregui stood out in a tulle lilac gown.
“Michelle looks exceptionally beautiful tonight,” Ross said. “I love when comedians dress up. Like, I put on a nice jacket. Like most people, I feel like I can get away with more when I’m dressed up. I’m not best-dressed, but I aspire to be better-dressed, and I think I get away with more when I’m dressed up.”
Ross suggested that he could get “Most Improved” should Vanity Fair create a Better-Dressed list.
The entrance to the restaurant lit up with bursts of flashbulbs upon the arrival of Jenner, accompanied by her rumored girlfriend, 22-year-old Sophia Hutchins. Hutchins recounted the pair’s whirlwind Fashion Week, which included front-row seats at shows like Jeremy Scott and Badgley Mischka, as well as events like the (now-infamous) Harper’s Bazaar Icons party, where Cardi B threw a shoe at Nicki Minaj. Hutchins admitted that after eight jam-packed days, she was ready to head back home—and when home is Malibu, who could blame her?
At around 9:30 P.M., celebrities and civilians alike descended back down the 60 stories to leave, walking out into a still-drizzling Manhattan. Even the weather was bummed to see the end of another good party.
