At the India AI Impact Summit 2026, Prime Minister Narendra Modi tried on a glossy, spectacles-like AI system.
Not glasses, the wearable or Sarvam Kaze is an indigenous synthetic intelligence (AI)-powered system developed by homegrown startup Sarvam AI.
Developed by Bengaluru-based startup Sarvam AI and unveiled on the India AI Impact Summit 2026, it’s positioned as India’s homegrown different to international wearables just like the Meta Ray-Ban.
What makes Sarvam Kaze distinctive?
The glasses are designed to pay attention, perceive, and reply to person queries whereas capturing what the wearer sees in real-time.
Unlike many rivals, it runs on Sarvam’s in-house AI stack, particularly optimized for Indian languages and regional contexts.
It utilises the Sarvam Edge AI mannequin, permitting it to course of info domestically on the system for sooner responses, enhanced privateness, and offline performance.
It encompasses a discreet “spectacles-like” frame with embedded cameras and microphones built into the arms for hands-free capture and interaction.
Through the Sarvam Platform, developers can build custom experiences and specialized applications tailored for the glasses.
Supports real-time interaction, allowing users to receive instant audio feedback or summaries based on their surroundings.
When will it be available?
In the pictures shared by Sarvam AI co-founder Pratyush Kumar, the Prime Minister is seen testing the real-time capabilities of the device while visiting the exhibition. According to the company, Sarvam Kaze is likely to be available in the market in May.
It is expected to be available to the public in May 2026.
‘Made in India’ AI product
From design to technical development, the entire product has been made in India. The company is presenting itself as a completely indigenous AI product. Apart from this, developers will also have the facility to create custom applications on the Sarvam platform. That is, they can develop separate AI-based experiences for specific needs.
What exactly is Sarvam AI creating?
Sarvam AI is one of the teams developing ‘Foundational AI Models’ tailored to Indian needs. They focus on building Large Language Models (LLMs) and Speech Models for Indian languages. These models will be useful for voice interfaces, document processing, and citizen services.

Why it matters
The development is considered important in the context of the ‘IndiaAI Mission’. The mission was launched by the central government in March 2024 with a provision of Rs 10,372 crore.
The summit in Delhi is bringing together policymakers, startups, researchers and global technology leaders to discuss responsible and innovative AI development. The event signals that India is no longer just a country using AI, but is also emerging as a country building its own AI products and models.
