Ashwin has finally revealed why he introduced retirement amidst the BGT 2024-25 sequence.
Ravichandran Ashwin stunned cricket followers internationally after he introduced his sudden retirement from worldwide cricket through the third India vs Australia Test in Brisbane. He retired with two Tests remaining within the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT).
However, Ashwin has finally revealed why he introduced retirement amidst the BGT 2024-25 sequence.
“I’ve never been a person who holds onto things, I’ve never felt insecure in life,” he stated on Sky Sports. “I do not consider what’s mine at present goes to be mine tomorrow. That has most likely been one in all my elevating components all these years.
“I all the time wished to depart issues behind as nonchalantly as I can as a result of I don’t consider in individuals celebrating me, I do not consider within the consideration we get generally in India. It is the sport that all the time stood forward of me, on a regular basis,” he added.
Ashwin additional stated, “I did contemplate [retirement] a few times. For me, the day I woke up and felt the creative side of me didn’t have a future or direction, that would be the day I would give it up. I suddenly felt that creative side didn’t have a lot of upsides to explore.”
Ashwin, who debuted for India in 2010, discovered success early in his profession and was part of the profitable squads within the 2011 ODI World Cup and the 2013 Champions Trophy.
