KL Rahul, Rohit Sharma’s strong start helps India chase 86 runs against Scotland with ease

Date:

Indian openers KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma started the 86-runs chase on a positive note against Scotland in match 37 of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 in Dubai. India chased down the runs in 6.3 overs and won the clash by eight wickets.

India’s net run rate is above Afghanistan and obviously, New Zealand. However, this all would be useless if New Zealand win their match against Afghanistan.

While India’s Hitman was sent back after a powerful 30 runs of 16 balls, the damage was already done. Rahul’s half-century and skipper Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav’s cameo helped India win the match comfortably.

17 Stephan Myburgh v Ire Sylhet 2014

18 Glenn Maxwell v Pak Mirpur 2014

18 KL Rahul v Sco Dubai 2021

Earlier, opting to bowl first after winning the toss on his birthday, Kohli made sure his bowlers took wickets in quick succession. Mohammed Shami and Ravindra Jadeja bowled devastating spells as they took three wickets each, Jasprit Bumrah took two while R Ashwin had one wicket to his name.

Earlier, India made one change as they brought back Varun Chakaravarthy in place of Shardul Thakur.

Winning with most balls to spare in T20 World Cups:

90 SL v Net Chittagong 2014

82 Aus v Ban Dubai 2021

81 Ind v Sco Dubai 2021 *

77 SL v Net Sharjah 2021

74 NZ v Ken Durban 2007

70 Eng v WI Dubai 2021

They also need to register another convincing victory against Namibia in order to better their NRR. They even need to hope other results go in their favour as well.
