SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Willie Taggart’s tenure at Florida State couldn’t have started any worse.

The Seminoles were blown out 24-3 in the season opener against Virginia Tech, had to come back from a 13-point deficit against FCS Samford, and were blown out by Syracuse 30-7 on Saturday.

After the loss to Syracuse, FSU fans were up in arms about the state of the program and how poor the Seminoles looked in the loss.

The Tallahassee Democrat’s story from December on Taggart’s contract had more than 2,000 views Saturday, and some people have even taken it a step further.

As of Saturday night, night different GoFundMe accounts have been created to “pay” for Taggart’s buyout if he were to be fired this season. So far a whopping $10 have been raised.

Taggart’s buyout would be $21.25 million after this season, not even including guaranteed money owed to assistants.

NoleSports reporter Wayne McGahee’s take:

This is an absolutely ridiculous response to the first three games of Willie Taggart’s tenure.

The team hasn’t looked great, but Taggart inherited a mess of an offensive line and has had to install two brand new systems on offense and defense as well as do what he could to fix a broke culture left behind by Jimbo Fisher after the 2017 season.

FSU isn’t going to fire Taggart this year, nor should it, given what the administration paid to get him here and how ridiculous it would be to fire a coach after just a single season.
