Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski reportedly will not play in the team’s matchup against the Titans on Sunday, while running back Sony Michel is listed as questionable.
Gronkowski’s status was questionable Friday, but NFL Network reported Saturday the team is “taking the smart, cautious approach by making sure he’s back after the bye at full strength to close the season strong.”

Gronkowski has missed two of the team’s last three games with ankle and back injuries. He has caught 29 passes for 448 yards and a touchdown. He told reporters Friday the Patriots’ coaching staff will make the final call on whether he plays.
“It’s a coach’s decision,” Gronkowski said (via NESN). “If coach thinks I can go, I can go.”
Michel has been dealing with a knee injury and last played in the Patriots’ 38-31 win over the Bears on Oct. 21. He has averaged 4.4 yards per carry and rushed for four touchdowns in six games in 2018.
The Patriots will enter the matchup against the Titans in first place of the AFC East with a 7-2 record.
