Mohammed Shariful Islam, also referred to as Vijay Das, who was arrested for attacking Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan throughout a failed housebreaking try at his Bandra house, has a previous linked to theft. Islam, initially from Bangladesh, was caught stealing a diamond ring from a visitor while working at a pub in Worli Koliwada, Mumbai.
A number of months in the past, Islam was working as a housekeeping workers at the pub when he stole a diamond ring from a visitor. The visitor seen the ring was lacking and reported it to the pub administration. After checking CCTV footage, it was clear that Islam had taken the ring, resulting in his dismissal from the pub.
A colleague from the pub mentioned that nobody knew Islam was from Bangladesh. “We only found out about his background after the news broke. He was a good worker but sometimes acted strangely. He never spoke about his family or where he came from,” the colleague shared.
After the theft, Islam moved to Thane and labored in one other job, however he was let go when his contractor’s contract was canceled in December. The police found that Islam had been employed by way of a contractor and later discovered about his earlier theft and legal actions.
