A Mumbai court on Thursday sentenced Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut to 15 days easy imprisonment in a defamation criticism filed in opposition to him by BJP chief Kirit Somaiya’s spouse Medha Somaiya.
The metropolitan Justice of the Peace (Sewree court) convicted the Rajya Sabha member underneath Indian Penal Code Section 500 (punishment for defamation) and in addition imposed a fantastic of Rs 25,000 on him.

“The statements made by the accused to the media are per se defamatory. The statements have been made to malign my character in the eyes of the general public,” the criticism had said.
