Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla on Monday reviewed state of affairs in the wake of hoax emails obtained by some schools in the nationwide capital final week and emphasised the necessity to improve safety, CCTV cameras and common monitoring of emails in the schools.

Bhalla additionally requested the Delhi Police and schools to have shut coordination for an efficient response mechanism in order that misinformation doesn’t create any pointless panic. “Home Secretary reviews the situation in wake of hoax emails received by some schools in Delhi last week. He stressed the need to prepare detailed protocol and SOPs to handle any such situation in future,” a house ministry spokesperson stated.

“Home Secretary also emphasized the need to enhance security, CCTV cameras and regular monitoring of emails in the schools,” the spokesperson stated.

 

 

The assembly was attended by Delhi Chief Secretary and Delhi Police Commissioner. On May 1, greater than 200 schools in Delhi-NCR obtained an an identical menace e-mail claiming that explosives had been planted on their premises, triggering large evacuations and searches as panic-stricken dad and mom rushed to choose up their kids. “Nothing objectionable” was discovered throughout searches by authorities which later declared it a hoax.

On Monday, on the eve of Lok Sabha elections in Ahmedabad, as many as 16 schools obtained an electronic mail threatening bomb blasts, although a police assertion stated this was a hoax as searches failed to unearth something suspicious.
