Penn State welcomes Kent State to Beaver Stadium on Saturday for a noon kickoff. Both teams enter the matchup coming off Week Two wins.
The Nittany Lions target a 3-0 start for the second straight season. Penn State defeated Appalachian State, 45-38, at home in overtime Sept. 1, then traveled to Pitt last Saturday, shredding the Panthers en route to a 51-6 victory.
Kent State also delivered a strong performance last weekend, routing FCS foe Howard, 55-14, in its home opener. The Golden Flashes started the season in another Big Ten stadium, suffering a 31-24 loss at Illinois.
Led by a first-year head coach, Kent State aims to improve from a 2-10 showing last season. The Golden Flashes also added a dynamic quarterback, who could present issues for Penn State’s defense.
The Nittany Lions, unbeaten in Beaver Stadium the last two season, look to protect home turf before beginning Big Ten action next Friday. Like Kent State, the Nittany Lions will journey to Champagne for a showdown vs. Illinois.
