Seattle cop’s joke after Indian student’s demise sparks outrage

An India scholar in Seattle misplaced her life after being hit by a police patrolling car and now an unsettling video of a US cop laughing and joking in regards to the deceased has enraged the world prompting the launch of an investigation towards the Police Union Leader.

Jaahnavi Kandula, a scholar from Telangana was killed by a police cruiser in Seattle. Now, a video has gone viral on social media, wherein a Seattle police union chief is recorded laughing and joking on a telephone name in regards to the demise of a younger Indian girl. 

The cop is even heard saying the phrases, “She had limited value”. This sparked a plethora of enraged reactions from individuals all around the world. Jaahnavi was pursuing her grasp’s from Northeastern University’s Seattle campus. 

An investigation has additionally been launched towards Seattle police. The video was launched on Monday of Officer Daniel Auderer whose colleague Officer Kevin Dave was concerned within the accident. 

The Seattle Community Police Commission (CPC) issued an announcement Monday following the discharge of the video, calling the dialog between Auderer and his colleague, “heartbreaking and shockingly insensitive.”

“The people of Seattle deserve better from a police department that is charged with fostering trust with the community and ensuring public safety,” the CPC added.

After this unsettling and thoughtless video was launched on YouTube by the Seattle police division, individuals from all around the world began posting offended messages on social media. Here are a few of tweets posted by individuals. 


The Consulate General of India commenting on the problems wrote on ‘X’ that, “Recent reports including in media of the handling of Ms Jaahnavi Kandula’s death in a road accident in Seattle in January are deeply troubling. We have taken up the matter strongly with local authorities in Seattle and Washington State as well as senior officials in Washington DC for a thorough investigation and action against those involved in this tragic case.”

It added, “The Consulate and Embassy will continue to closely follow up on this matter with all concerned authorities”.

Kandula was hit by a police patrol car in South Lake Union and succumbed to her accidents in January 2023. After an preliminary investigation, it was discovered that the police had been travelling at an alarming pace of 75 mph (119 kmph) in a 25 mph (40 kmph) zone whereas she was utilizing a crosswalk.
