Petrol price in Delhi falls to Rs 103.97 per litre

A day after the government announced a reduction in Central Excise Duty on petrol and diesel by Rs 5 and Rs 10 (per litre) respectively, people across states have got some relief from the ever-increasing fuel prices. Petrol is selling at Rs 103.97 per litre in Delhi today, cheaper by Rs 6.07 per litre while the rate of diesel is now Rs 86.67 per litre, a cut by Rs 11.75.

This is a sharp drop from yesterday’s rate of Rs110.04 for petrol and Rs 98.42 per litre for diesel.

Based on April to October consumption numbers, the loss of revenue to the government due to the excise duty cut will be Rs 8,700 crore per month. This totals to an annual impact of over Rs 1 lakh crore, industry sources said. 

Petrol and diesel prices in metro cities

In Mumbai, today’s petrol price is Rs 109.98 per litre, a fall in cost by Rs 5.87 and diesel costs Rs 94.14 for one litre, a cut by Rs 12.48 a litre. 

Currently, petrol and diesel prices are the highest in Mumbai among all the four major capital cities in India.

Petrol is selling at Rs 103.97 per litre in Delhi today while the rate of diesel now stands at Rs 86.67 per litre.

In Chennai, a litre of petrol is priced at Rs 101.40, a cut by Rs 5.26 per litre. On Thursday, the price of a litre of diesel was Rs 91.43, cheaper by Rs 11.16.

Petrol in Kolkata costs Rs 104.67 per litre, a fall of price by Rs 5.82 while diesel costs Rs 101.56 a litre, a price cut by Rs 11.77 per litre.

While petrol can be bought at Rs 112.56 in Bhopal, which is a cut by Rs 6.27, diesel costs Rs 95.40 per litre, a whopping reduction of Rs 12.5 per litre.

In Chennai petrol is now selling at Rs 101.40 per litre from the earlier price of Rs 102 per litre while diesel price now stands at Rs 91.43. 

With the new rate change from today, in Noida, petrol is now priced at Rs 101.29 per litre and in Gurugram it is Rs 101.71 per litre.
