NAGPUR: French liquor large Pernod Ricard signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Maharashtra govt on Friday to invest in a malt distillery at Nagpur. With a capability of 60,000 litres a day, the proposed unit is dubbed to be India’s largest malt distillery. Among the corporate’s personal services, it is also the biggest in Asia, and could be the most important in the continent for the business, mentioned Pernod officers.
The firm has plans to invest Rs 1,785 crore in the unit over a interval of 10 years.It might take over two years to full the development, adopted by the ageing of spirits. The new distillery will even lead to substantial enhance in income mop-up from excise.
