IITH, Japanese Renesas Electronics Corp ink pact to boost semiconductor innovation, talent


HYDERABAD: The Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IITH) has entered right into a strategic collaboration with Japanese superior semiconductor options supplier Renesas Electronics Corporation with an eye fixed on boosting semiconductor innovation and talent growth within the nation.

JICA India chief consultant Saito Mitsunori mentioned the IITH-Renesas partnership represents a major milestone for Indo-Japan collaboration within the semiconductor sector as envisaged within the `Japan-India Semiconductor Supply Chain Partnership’ between the 2 governments.
“Promotion of Indo-Japan collaboration in high-end technologies such as semiconductors will be a new but important sphere of JICA’s cooperation with India as the largest and closest development partner of the country,” he added.
JICA mentioned it was dedicated to supporting IITH’s aspirations to emerge as a hub for India’s talent growth, a nucleus for India-Japan educational collaborations, and a key participant within the `Make in India’ initiative, together with within the semiconductor sector.
JICA mentioned it has been offering monetary help to IITH for campus growth via ODA (official growth help) loans aggregating to Japanese Yen 23,035 million (round Rs 1,500 crore).
