NEW DELHI: Taking be aware of a report suggesting that Foxconn India’s iPhone plant in Tamil Nadu was not hiring married ladies employees, the Union labour ministry has sought an in depth report from the state govt. “Section 5 of the Equal Remuneration Act, 1976 clearly stipulates that no discrimination to be made while recruiting men and women workers. As the state govt is the appropriate authority for the enforcement and administration of the provisions of this Act, hence the report has been sought from the state govt,” an official assertion mentioned.
