Selena Gomez Will Reportedly Undergo ‘Open-Ended’ Treatment In Rehab Amid Breakdown

She’s taking the right steps. Selena Gomez has not had an easy year, and the pop star recently buckled under all of the pressure. Earlier this week, Selena was hospitalized after suffering an emotional breakdown and she re-entered a mental health facility in order to work on her issues. Now, more details about her rehab program and treatment have been revealed.

Selena’s treatment will be “open-ended,” an insider revealed to Page Six. The insider also offered some insight into what caused Sel’s breakdown: “Justin Bieber’s engagement would undoubtedly have an effect on her. Selena has had a lot on her plate — too much. And, of course, as with any major life event, [the engagement would have affected her.]”

Justin, 24, and Selena, 26, dated off-and-on for nearly seven years and their most recent split came back in March. Just two months later, Justin started dating Hailey Baldwin, who was another one of his on-again, off-again girlfriends. But they took things to the next level fairly quickly, and Justin and Hailey were engaged by July — and multiple reports claim that they may even already be married.

But Justin’s engagement and possible marriage to Hailey is only one of the many issues that Selena has had to deal with recently. The “Back To You” singer also has been battling Lupus (a chronic, autoimmune disease) for quite some time and she even underwent a kidney transplant last year. Since receiving the transplant, Selena has been suffering from complications of that procedure.

“Selena also has a major medical condition with Lupus,” the insider said, “and her transplant, which always is a complicating factor.”

Sel is currently seeking treatment at a rehab facility on the East Coast, where she will be undergoing dialectical behavior therapy as well as taking part in a wellness program.
