Sedition case against Rahul Gandhi for ‘Rape in India’ remark

INDORE: A social worker has on Friday lodged sedition case against Rahul Gandhi in a magisterial court for his ‘Rape in India’ remark.
The court has accepted the complaint and sent it to special court in Bhopal for hearing cases against MLA and MPs. In the complaint, court has been urged to accept the case under Section 124-A, 281, 153-A, 153-B, 159, 506, 268, 295, 503, 504 of IPC for hurting sentiments of people.
Complainant Mukesh Rajawat submitted complaint in court of 10th chief judicial magistrate first class Gaurav Garg. Rajawat in his complaint to court said that Rahul Gandhi had hurt sentiments of people with his remark of ‘Rape in India’ during an election rally in Gada, Jharkhand on Thursday.
Rahul Gandhi in a scathing attack on Narendra Modi-led Union government during two back-to-back election rallies in Jharkhand on Thursday said that Prime Minister has turned Centre’s ambitious ‘Make In India’ into ‘Rape In India’ and expressed concerns that the rising sexual assault has defamed the country globally.
The complainant alleged that the remark is not only against sentiment of majority of the people of the country but also qualifies as a case of sedition. Rahul Gandhi continuously tried to harm social fabric of this country by remarks against race, religion, region and also damaging fraternity of this great nation, said Rajawat.
The complainant received information regarding Rahul Gandhi’s statement from reports in various newspapers and news channels. Rahul Gandhi had intentionally hurt sentiments of people of the country, said the complainant.
