PS4 games news: Good news for Sony ahead of PS Plus December reveal

Sony received great news in October 2018 which will help bolster the hype surrounding the PS Plus December 2018 reveal.

While there is a lot of interest currently focused on what Sony and Microsoft have planned for their next consoles, it appears the current gen is still selling well.

It has now been confirmed that Sony saw one of their best October months regarding consoles sold.

According to the latest data shared by the NPD group, PS4 and PS4 Pro consoles outsold both Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.

From what has been confirmed so far, this has been one of the best months for Sony’s PS4 since its launch.

And from what has been shared by NPD analyst Mat Piscatella, Sony is going to be perfectly primed to move onto their next their projects very soon.

“PlayStation 4 hardware unit sales achieved an all-time October high for the platform,” Piscatella said. “While PlayStation 4 hardware dollar sales reached its highest point for an October month since October 2014.”

“October 2018 unit sales of PlayStation 4 reached the highest mark for any PlayStation hardware platform in an October month since the PlayStation 2 in October 2002.”

More on the overall outlooks from Piscatella, who adds: “Hardware spending in October 2018 grew 26 per cent when compared to a year ago, to $300 million.

“Significant gains in spending on both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One hardware were offset by declines across all other platforms.”

“For the 2018 year-to-date period, hardware spending has increased 19 percent, to $2.7 billion,”

“Spending gains for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and plug-n-play devices such as the NES Classic Edition and SNES Classic Edition continue to drive growth.”

So it looks like there is going to be plenty of interest in the new PS Plus December 2018 games being announced later this week.

From how Sony has done most other PlayStation Plus announcements this year, we’re looking at Wednesday, November 28 as the final reveal date.

The tech giant has such a well-known formula for their announcements that fans can probably look on the official website at around 4:30pm for confirmation.

So far there have been no sizeable leaks to suggest what will be made downloadable next month.

Regarding predictions, Sony first-party games are always a good shout. Games like Uncharted 4, Uncharted: Nathan Drake Collection, Killzone 3 and The Order 1886 are viable options.

That’s on top of games like The Last of Us 2 Remastered and Gravity Rush.

Other possibilities include Watch Dogs, Far Cry 4, Fallout 4, Dark Souls 2 and Wasteland 2.

It follows news of a recent Sony financial report confirming strong numbers for the PS Plus subscription service.

It has now been confirmed that PlayStation Plus has helped bring about an 8% upward revision in sales.

This includes the sales of PS4 hardware, as well as increases in sales of the PlayStation Plus subscription service.

An exact share hasn’t been revealed but will be welcome news following the dip in subscribers from March 2018 to June 2018.
