Oklahoma’s traditional Sooner Schooner ride had a minor incident in the first quarter of OU’s game against Oklahoma State on Saturday.

A member of the Ruf/Nek men’s spirit squad nearly fell out of the Sooner Schooner wagon during a touchdown celebration and was dragged across the field while appearing to tell the driver to stop or slow down. He was originally carrying a school flag.

The Ruf Nek was not seriously injured during the incident and ESPN cameras showed him back on his feet in good spirits afterwards. .

The Sooner Schooner is an official mascot of the sports teams at OU. Pulled by two white ponies named Boomer and Sooner, it’s a scaled-down replica of the Studebaker Conestoga wagon used by settlers of the Oklahoma Territory around the time of the Land Run of 1889.
