Game of Thrones, s7e2 'Stormborn': Arya Stark

With Game of Thrones winding down, Maisie Williams is continuing to prove there’s life after Arya Stark by landing another new role.

A few months on from wrapping filming on the final series of the HBO show, it’s now been confirmed that Maisie will be playing Scottish hacker Cammie MacCloud in Rooster Teeth’s new animated sci-fi gen:LOCK, Entertainment Weekly reports.

“Working with Maisie is as fun as it gets,” said showrunner Gray G Haddock. “Her energy and the sense of humour she brings to Cammie is an absolute delight.

“I’m running out of superlatives to describe how perfect this cast works for the characters, but Maisie truly sounds exactly like how Cammie does in my head — she’s brilliant.”

gen:LOCK focuses on a gang of young pilots who have been signed up to control next-gen mecha giant robots.

It’s not Maisie’s first sci-fi role, of course, as she played the mysterious Ashildr in several episodes of series nine of Doctor Who.

gen:LOCK has another Doctor Who link, too, with former Doctor David Tennant signed up to play scientist Dr Rufus Weller in the show, while also starring are Michael B Jordan, Dakota Fanning and Kōichi Yamadera. gen:LOCK hits Rooster Teeth in January 2019.

Game of Thrones season 8 will premiere in 2019. The show airs on HBO in the US and Sky Atlantic and NOW TV in the UK. Season 7 is now available to buy on DVD, Blu-ray or digital download.
