There’s another world where Foles is the starting quarterback for the Buccaneers this week, and never becomes a Super Bowl MVP and Eagles hero, as he did last season. That almost happened.
Instead, here they are. Both guiding 1-0 teams against each other.
Nobody expected Foles to do what he did in the playoffs last year. On a smaller scale, few thought Fitzpatrick could put up 417 passing yards and four touchdowns in a Week 1 upset of the New Orleans Saints, perceived by most experts to be an NFC contender.
“It’s not easy to go to a new team and build a relationship with guys, and then go in and play, and play at a high level,” Foles said. “I think Fitz has done an amazing job of doing that, throughout his career. … I think he’s a testament as someone who’s just continued to work, continued to impact a locker room, and then when he gets an opportunity to play, he does some pretty special things.”
All eyes will be on Fitzpatrick and Foles on Sunday afternoon, but there’s a whole lot more to keep an eye on. Here’s a gameday preview, with key stats, facts, matchups and Q&A with one of the leaders of the Eagles defense.
