PHILADELPHIA — Alshon Jeffery has spent most of the last seven months as a sideline spectator, an observer on the practice field, unable to play as he recovered from shoulder surgery.
This was the sacrifice he made last season. After suffering a torn shoulder in the preseason, he opted against surgery and played the entire season. He didn’t miss a single game, led the team in receiving touchdowns and capped it with a stellar performance in the Super Bowl.
He had the surgery in February, and he only just returned to practice this week, and even then only in a limited capacity.
Jeffery missed the Eagles’ Week 1 game against the Falcons; he’ll miss Week 2 against the Buccaneers.
Friday, Jeffery met with the media for the first time since speaking with NJ Advance Media in April. Back then, he said he “for sure” would be back for Week 1. That didn’t happen. Friday, Jeffery expressed frustration for his prolonged absence. Yet, he’d do it all over again.
“If I had to do it over again, I’d do the same thing,” Jeffery said. “It worked out. I’ll be OK.”
Here are some of the notable things Jeffery said after Friday’s practice, the last one before Sunday’s game in Tampa Bay.
