If you think you can do a better job than your boss, don’t worry you aren’t alone. According to a study, a majority of unhappy employees believe their boss isn’t doing a good job and they themselves are more capable of performing their boss’ duties better than him or her. Not just this, the study also made some interesting observations about the employee-boss relationship.
02/644% employees believe they are better than their boss
According to the study conducted by the researchers at Multilotto, a gambling startup, almost 44 per cent employees in the United Kingdom believe they can do a better job than their boss. Interestingly, such employees were mostly unhappy, dissatisfied and hardly enjoyed job satisfaction. The researchers surveyed around 2,000 employees and evaluated what the participants felt about the performance of their boss or supervisor.
03/6Still, employees would support their boss during a crisis
Surprisingly, most employees who believed they can outperform their superior also stated that they would still support their boss during a conflict or crisis. This spoke volumes about their loyalty—no matter how dissatisfied the employees were, they would never go against their manager or superior during an hour of crisis.
04/620% of employees thought their boss made them work too hard
Do you think your boss makes you work too hard for unnecessary reasons? Don’t worry, you aren’t alone. Almost 20 per cent of the employees who took part in the study stated their boss not only made them work unnecessarily but also delegated work which their boss should have ideally done.
05/6Over 25% of employees harboured resentment
It didn’t come as a surprise when more than 25 per cent participants stated they felt some amount of resentment towards their boss that they harboured for years. Also, 10 per cent of participants admitted to having intentionally infuriated their boss to the point of making him or her lash out at employees.
06/6One-third of employees left their jobs due to their boss
Out of the 2,000 employees who took part in the survey, one-third stated that they had quit a job in the past because of their boss. Also, 14 per cent of the participants admitted of looking for a new job to avoid their current manager. So, do you agree with the study results? In case, you are thinking of quitting your job because of your toxic boss, you aren’t alone!
